Bowen Aquarium and Conservation Center is scheduled to break ground on December 2, 2026, on a 14-acre site along the Banana River at Port Canaveral.

The $140 million project will showcase native Florida wildlife and give visitors a look at sea turtle rehabilitation and efforts to restore the Indian River Lagoon.

Construction is expected to take 24 to 30 months, followed by time for animals to settle into their new habitats.

An opening date has yet to be announced.

Quote Of The Day

Most people spend their whole lives waiting for the perfect moment, not realizing the present moment — messy, imperfect, and gloriously unfinished — is the one worth savoring. Gratitude isn't a polished ritual saved for big wins. It's the quiet discipline of noticing what already fills your cup before you go looking for a bigger one. The morning commute, the lukewarm coffee, the ordinary Tuesday — these are the blessings wearing disguises. Train your eyes to spot them, and you'll find that a rich life isn't built from extraordinary moments, but from ordinary ones fully lived.

In Brevard County, home price reductions reveal a familiar tension: sellers want to protect their equity, while buyers need a payment they can afford.

For shoppers in Palm Bay, Melbourne, Titusville and Cocoa Beach, a lower asking price matters only if the full cost of ownership fits their budget.

Mortgage rates, taxes, insurance and upkeep can offset a discount, particularly for coastal properties.

Conditions also vary by neighborhood, so a price cut alone does not mean a seller is distressed or a home is a bargain.

Buyers should weigh recent nearby sales, property condition and time on market before making an offer.

Sellers, meanwhile, must decide whether to lower the price, offer concessions or keep waiting.

Realistic pricing from the start may draw more interest than repeated small cuts after a listing lingers.

In either case, careful comparisons matter more than the size of the markdown.
