On May 28, 2026, a major explosion rocked Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket during a test at Cape Canaveral’s Launch Complex 36.

The blast heavily damaged the launch pad, destroying vital structures like the lightning tower and the transporter-erector system.

No injuries were reported, and key systems, including propellant and fuel tanks, survived undamaged.

CEO Dave Limp assured the community that preserving these systems is a step forward, even as the company faces delays.

Despite the setback, Blue Origin remains determined to resume flights before year’s end.

This explosion could disrupt NASA’s Artemis program, as New Glenn plays a key role in lunar deliveries.

As investigations unfold, Brevard County residents reflect on the challenges and unpredictability of their region’s space industry.

The community’s resilience and ongoing support remind all that setbacks pave the path toward future breakthroughs in space exploration.

πŸš€ Space Coast Rocket Launches (FL)

June 4, 2026–June 11, 2026

πŸš€ Space Coast Launch Report

Florida's Space Coast
Rocket Launch Guide

June 4 – June 11, 2026  |  Cape Canaveral  Β·  Kennedy Space Center
β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜…
By the close of May 2026, Florida's Space Coast had already logged 37 orbital launches for the year β€” an extraordinary pace that would have been unimaginable a decade ago. The week of June 4–11 keeps the momentum going with multiple confirmed missions, a high-profile TBC launch, and a TBD Globalstar flight that could slot in anywhere. Here is your complete, authoritative breakdown β€” everything you need to know before you point your eyes at the eastern sky.

Orbit
Low Earth Orbit

This is the week's premier launch event and the biggest early-morning spectacle on the Space Coast. SpaceX is putting 29 next-generation Starlink V2 Mini Optimized satellites into low Earth orbit β€” each one delivering four times the capacity of earlier-generation Starlinks, with integrated direct-to-cell capability so standard smartphones can connect to space without any special hardware. This mission was scrubbed on June 3 due to cumulus cloud violations, with the team returning confident on June 4 with an 85% favorable weather outlook.

Veteran booster B1090 is flying for its 12th time β€” a milestone that underscores SpaceX's revolutionary reusability program. After burnout and stage separation roughly 2.5 minutes after liftoff, B1090 will execute a precision flip, re-ignite its Merlin engines for a boost-back burn, re-enter the atmosphere, and touch down aboard the drone ship "A Shortfall of Gravitas" in the Atlantic Ocean β€” all within nine minutes of launch. The Starlink constellation now exceeds 10,500 total deployed satellites, more than 9,200 of which are actively operating β€” the largest satellite constellation in human history by an enormous margin.

Pre-dawn watchers along Brevard's barrier islands will see a brilliant white fireball arc northeast over the Atlantic sky, followed by the faint secondary glow of the landing burn appearing above the horizon roughly 8 minutes later. Listen for the sonic double-boom from the booster landing β€” it carries all the way inland to I-95 under the right atmospheric conditions.

Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket suffered a catastrophic static fire test explosion at LC-36 in May 2026. During the hot-fire test, the engine ignition triggered a fire that destroyed the vehicle. On June 3, Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp confirmed that the core infrastructure at LC-36 was not severely damaged and that the company intends to resume New Glenn flights before the end of 2026 β€” but the explosion's root cause is still under investigation.

Amazon's Leo constellation is a direct and serious rival to SpaceX's Starlink, aiming to deliver low-latency broadband to rural and underserved communities globally. Had this New Glenn flight occurred, it would have deployed up to 48 Amazon Leo satellites in a single rideshare β€” one of the largest commercial LEO batch deployments ever attempted. New Glenn is a 320-foot-tall heavy-lift rocket powered by BE-4 liquefied natural gas engines, with a seven-meter fairing that can accommodate jumbo satellite payloads. Its first stage is designed for up to 25 reflights. This launch will not occur within the June 4–11 window as currently constituted. Watch Blue Origin's channels for a return-to-flight announcement.

πŸ”§ PAD OPERATIONS DAY β€” NO SCHEDULED LAUNCHES
SLC-40 turnaround operations are underway following June 4's Starlink mission. SpaceX ground crews will be processing recovered booster B1090 aboard the drone ship while prepping the pad for the next mission. These 48–72 hour turnarounds β€” once considered impossible in the rocket industry β€” are now routine for SpaceX. The Globalstar 2-R Launch 1 (TBD) remains a wildcard that could target this date if scheduling advances.

This is the stealth launch of the week β€” one that could materialize anywhere from June 5 onward and has been delayed multiple times already (from May 18, then again from May 20). The Globalstar 2-R Launch 1 will carry nine HIBLEO-4 satellites to replenish Globalstar's critical broadband constellation. This marks the first of two planned back-to-back Globalstar replenishment flights, essential for maintaining the satellite phone network that millions of adventurers, maritime operators, pilots, and emergency first responders depend on.

Globalstar's HIBLEO-4 network sits in a mid-inclination LEO orbit and underpins the Apple Emergency SOS via satellite feature built into iPhones β€” meaning this launch has real-world life-safety implications for anyone who has ever been far from cell coverage. Booster B1090 would be flying for approximately its 13th time if the June 4 mission runs first. Watch SpaceX and Globalstar social media for a targeting announcement β€” once a date drops, these missions tend to move quickly.

If any launch this week deserves a standing ovation, it's this one. Booster B1067 is flying for its 35th time β€” and that number is not a typo. When this booster rolled off the production line, no one in the aerospace industry seriously believed a liquid-fueled rocket first stage could be reflown 35 times. SpaceX did not just believe it β€” they built it, proved it, and are doing it again on June 7. B1067 has been involved in an extraordinary career spanning crewed Dragon missions, cargo ISS resupply flights, national security launches for the U.S. government, and dozens of commercial satellite deployments. It is a living monument to what reusable rocketry has achieved.

The mission itself deploys another 29 Starlink V2 Mini Optimized satellites to continue expanding the Group 10 orbital shell β€” a dedicated coverage band that improves service quality for subscribers across North America, Europe, and equatorial regions. This launch was moved up from June 8, indicating the pad, booster, and manifest are all in healthy shape. A 6:30 AM EDT window opening means Space Coast residents will be treated to a launch in the early golden hour β€” one of the most visually stunning times of day for a rocket flight, when the ascending flame trail catches the first light of sunrise above the Atlantic. Head to any Brevard County beach east of US-1 for an unobstructed horizon view.

πŸ“‹ BACKUP DATE β€” STARLINK 10-35 (If June 7 Slips)
Some scheduling sources list the Starlink Group 10-35 mission on June 8 at 6:07 AM EDT β€” this is the same mission shown above for June 7, with a one-day slip built in. If weather, a technical hold, or range conflicts push the June 7 attempt, June 8 becomes the immediate backup window. All mission details remain the same: SLC-40, booster B1067 on its 35th flight, 29 Starlink V2 Mini Optimized satellites, "A Shortfall of Gravitas" drone ship recovery. Stay tuned to SpaceX's real-time status updates.

πŸ›°οΈ WATCH WINDOW β€” NO CONFIRMED SPACE COAST LAUNCHES
No launches are currently confirmed from Cape Canaveral or Kennedy Space Center for June 9–11. However, this window remains open for several possibilities:

Globalstar 2-R Launch 1 (TBD) β€” Could target any day in this range once SpaceX announces a targeting date. SLC-40, Cape Canaveral. Watch SpaceX and Globalstar channels closely.

Pop-Up Starlink Mission β€” SpaceX regularly adds unannounced Starlink missions to the manifest with as little as 48–72 hours notice. Given the company's 2026 cadence of 37+ missions through May, additional Cape Canaveral launches within this window are entirely plausible.

Just one day outside the June 11 window, this confirmed GO mission is as close as it gets to "bonus launch week" territory. If you're still on the Space Coast on June 12, the Starlink 10-54 mission will deploy another 29 V2 Mini Optimized satellites from SLC-40 at a fully daylight 8:27 AM EDT β€” one of the more visible times of day for a Falcon 9 launch.
