The Titusville Police Department is set to launch an automated school zone speed enforcement program on February 25, 2026, aiming to enhance safety for students and pedestrians.

This initiative will be implemented in three phases, with the first phase activating cameras at key locations including Apollo Elementary, Coquina Elementary, and Titusville High School.

During the initial 60-day period, drivers exceeding the school zone speed limit by more than 10 mph will receive warnings instead of citations.

After this period, violations will result in $100 fines, though no points will be added to the driver's license.

The program operates 30 minutes before and after school hours, as well as throughout the school day, to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Similar programs have been successfully implemented in other Florida communities, such as Charlotte County and Osceola County, leading to a significant reduction in speeding incidents near schools.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the program's rollout and adhere to posted speed limits to ensure the safety of all community members.
