Playalinda Beach Adjusts Hours for Artemis II Launch Preparations |
Temporary closures at Canaveral National Seashore to support upcoming NASA mission |
Visitors to Canaveral National Seashore should be aware of upcoming changes to Playalinda Beach access as preparations for NASA's Artemis II mission are underway.
Starting January 12, 2026, the Playalinda District will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., deviating from its usual 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. schedule. This adjustment will continue through January 30.
From January 31 to February 6, or until the day of a successful launch, the entire Playalinda Beach District will be closed to the public.
Normal operating hours will resume the day after the Artemis II launch.
These changes are implemented to ensure safety and security during launch operations at the nearby Kennedy Space Center. Playalinda Beach's proximity to Launch Complex 39B necessitates these precautions during significant rocket activities.
Visitors are encouraged to check official park updates and consider alternative beaches during the launch period.
Once the launch is complete, Playalinda Beach will reopen, allowing visitors to enjoy its natural beauty alongside the excitement of space exploration. |
