Quick-Thinking Motorist Rescues Two Young Girls from Traffic |
On January 11, 2026, John Brittingham was driving southbound on Route A1A in Brevard County when he noticed two toddlers standing in the middle of the busy roadway.
Without hesitation, he stopped his vehicle, ran into the street, and signaled oncoming traffic to halt.
He swiftly picked up the first child and then the second, carrying them to safety on the sidewalk.
Brittingham, a father of five and grandfather, expressed his fear about the potential consequences, stating, "I was terrified thinking of what could have happened to them. The rest of my life would have been ruined."
After ensuring the children were safe, he searched for their family and discovered an open backyard gate at a nearby rental home.
The family, unaware that the toddlers had wandered off, was grateful for Brittingham's intervention.
Authorities were not contacted regarding the incident, and no injuries were reported.
