Annual event garners overwhelming support for local animals in need |
The Brevard Humane Society's 14th Annual Tuxes & Tails Greatest Show Gala, held on August 23, achieved remarkable success by raising over $165,000 to aid homeless pets in Brevard County.
Presented by Subaru of Melbourne and emceed by Mindy from Lite Rock 99.3, the sold-out event united compassionate supporters for an evening filled with entertainment, auctions, and celebration.
Honorary hosts Tom, Susie, and the Wasdin Family were joined by celebrity auctioneer Johnny Wiedmann of Wiedmann Construction & Roofing, along with a surprise guest auctioneer, Sheriff Wayne Ivey of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Ivey captivated attendees by raising $8,250 within minutes during a spirited auction for a SWAT Team Experience, showcasing his ongoing commitment to helping animals in need.
The evening commenced with a breathtaking performance by CirqueIt Events, featuring acrobatics on a giant platform in the center of the room, while The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse delighted guests with renditions from "The Greatest Showman."
Tom "Coach" Wasdin received the prestigious 2025 Brevard Humane Society Humanitarian Award for his longstanding dedication to helping homeless pets.
Harry and Debbie Vigliano, owners of H&D’s Roadhouse, were honored with the Humane Hero Award for their commitment to fundraising efforts, including their ongoing support of the annual Critter Run.
A touching moment of silence was held in memory of 2018 Humanitarian Award Winner Robert Leader, whose legacy of compassion continues to inspire.
Guests also enjoyed the reveal of the 2026 Best Pets of Brevard Calendar Contest winner—Archie, a beloved dog owned by Lindsey Wilson—as well as a lively Pet Parade and Adoptable Pet Parade showcasing some of the adorable dogs available for adoption.
One of the evening’s highlights was the 100 Big Top Bark Boxes, curated by Event Coordinator Desiree Zink, featuring an array of prizes from gift certificates to diamonds. Each box sold out quickly, with an impressive display provided by The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse.
Guests also delighted in a Kissing Booth, where donations earned them a smooch from friendly French Bulldogs.
“This was truly the best Tuxes & Tails Gala we have ever hosted,” said Theresa Clifton, Executive Director of the Brevard Humane Society. “The generosity, joy, and love for our animals were absolutely overwhelming. We are so grateful to our sponsors, guests, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making this evening such an incredible success for the homeless pets in our care.”
The Brevard Humane Society extends heartfelt thanks to its sponsors, including presenting sponsor Subaru of Melbourne, honorary hosts Tom, Susie, and the Wasdin Family, and all the volunteers, donors, and attendees who made this unforgettable evening possible.
